Alakhnath Temple

The Alakhnath Temple is the main centre of Naga Sanyasins belonging to the Anand Akhara order. The Naga Sannyasins are separate group of Shiva devotees. The temple has many shrines devoted to different gods and goddesses.

There is a courtyard at the centre and various animals like cows and goats can be found here. Behind one building, tourists may also find a camel. The place is all the time full of devotees making offerings and singing bhajans. Alakhnath Temple is one of the four Nath (Shiva) temples located in four corners of the city of Bareilly.

HOW TO REACH

By Air:Nearest airport is the Jabalpur and Raipur where domestic flights are available. For international flights, Delhi and Kolkata airport are the nearest. 1. Rickshaw, Auto Rickshaw and Bus are common mode of transport in the city. 2. Try to make your trip in the month of January as the weather during that time of the month is quite good.

By Rail:Direct trains are available to Pendra station and various trains directly from Patna to here. But no major train directly from the major cities of India.

By Road: Several deluxe bus services are available to Amarkantak from Shahdol, Umaria, Jabalpur, Rewa, Bilaspur, Anuppur and Pendra Road to this Shakti Peeth.
